The Insider's Guide to New York Tour
Soho – Nolita – Little Italy – Chinatown
Starting our tour in what was once known as the suburbs of 18th century New York City, you’ll see how Soho became a successful example of urban renewal. With the world’s largest and most magnificent collection of 19th century cast iron buildings, Soho started as an industrial and manufacturing center but with the transformation to artists’ lofts and art galleries, it is now a magnet for the hip and a mecca for everything including everyday and high-end shopping.
Our amble through charming and historic districts will take us east to Nolita, one of the newest neighborhoods in Manhattan. Like Soho, but more recently, this district has undergone a transformation and is now the home of small boutiques featuring local designers selling anything from women’s apparel to men’s shoes and baby accessories. We’ll stroll down peaceful tree-lined side streets, stopping and shopping while we view notable sites from the area’s storied past
As we leave Nolita, we’ll make our way south towards Little Italy, the first stop in America for many Italian immigrants in the 19th century. We’ll explore shops, restaurants, and cafes that still brim with the taste of Italy but now flavored with an original New York twist. We’ll also see up close the backgrounds that inspired many Hollywood movies; we may even meet a star or run into a film crew for an ongoing production.
Before you know it, our group will glide right into the heart of Chinatown. We’ll trace 150 years of history and culture of this ethnic village enclave starting from the 1860s to its current place as the largest Chinatown outside of Asia. With the wide selection of souvenirs, you can surprise your friends and family back home with global gifts that proudly proclaim the wonders of New York yet are “Made in China” and “Bought in Chinatown”.
While the tour ends here, the fun doesn’t! On offer as a free service, we’ll introduce different experiences for you to do on your own after your tour. We’ll show you other attractions and interesting activities that you can go to including a traditional Chinese massage, or a museum or if you like to have dinner, to any of a number of great restaurants!
